The letter comes after a report by the London-based Financial Times, citing documents from George Soros-backed Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), alluded to a "fraud" by the Adani Group by selling low-grade coal as high-value fuel in 2013.
The Maharashtra government on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court challenging the Bombay high court order directing the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct a preliminary inquiry within 15 days into the allegations of corruption and misconduct levelled by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh against ex-Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
One of the lawyers of the chief minister said that they will be seeking urgent listing of the petition on Monday.
The probe team is likely to record his statement, the sources said, adding that zonal Deputy Commissioner of Police Avinash Ambure was present at the police station.
